ARC-Trooper-Star

Welp, looks like I got tagged by JediRhydon101st to do this meme:

Rhydon asked for random facts about Star, so here goes:

1 - Originally, Star wasn't even meant to be an OC.

I created her design so I could one day build my own clone armour and I needed my own custom paintjob design for that. Star was originally meant to be nothing more than a visual reference picture, but my friends all seemed to like her and before I knew it, she had a backstory and her own little band of brothers too.

2 - Star quickly grew beyond being just a persona character for myself.

While my own social anxiety and past trauma certainly became the basis of Star's story, she eventually ended up in a very weird situation: While she did become a bit of a persona to me, at the same time, she also kind of became her own character? Idk if that makes any sense, lol.

In any case, I tried my best to make her fit in with the lore (as I do with all of my characters) while trying to avoid the pitfall of turning her into an OP Mary-Sue by giving her too much plot armour.

Anyway, on to some more lore-specific factoids about her:

3 - Star and the rest of Tooka Squad are Generation 1 clones.

I gave them low clone numbers on purpose as they are meant to be the same age as Rex and most of the Clone Commanders because I wanted them to be there for the entire duration of the Clone Wars.

4 - Star earned the Jaig Eyes on her helmet by her having saved the lives of thousands of unborn clones during the Second Battle of Kamino.

After the events of said battle, Star's brothers stole her helmet while she was sleeping. Bucket was the one who did the actual painting of the Eyes.

5 - Star's original clone number was CT-0207.

Out of the ARCs of Tooka Squad, Star was the only one who started out with a regular CT-number because unlike her closest brothers, she was not meant to be an ARC from the very beginning and was only given the opportunity to become one when her Cuy'val Dar instructor and mother figure Rahna Garin saved her life. Her designation was eventually changed to ARC-0207 when she graduated.

6 - Star is female, but not very feminine.

Most of you are probably familiar with the story of how Star ended up as a female clone (the Kaminoan who made an oopsie), and how the Kaminoans have tried their best to erase their "mistake" from existence by now, so I'm not going to repeat all of that here.

However, while Star was "born" female and identifies as such, she does not like to stick out so much. She prefers to blend in with her brothers and doesn't correct people who accidentally address her with male pronouns, such as "sir". She is very comfortable in her bulky armour as it hides her female form and she feels quite awkward whenever she finds herself in a situation where she's not wearing it. She has no issues with her being female, but she doesn't like to draw attention to it either. Having been raised on Mandalorian values by Rahna, the way Star sees things, she's a warrior and a soldier first and a woman second.

7 - Star is great at being an ARC Trooper, but she has zero people skills outside of combat.

Star may be a good soldier, but she's terribly anxious and insecure whenever she finds herself in social situations outside of combat. Due to her having been treated as a mistake by the Kaminoans and almost having been killed for it too, Star developed trust issues and tends to put up walls between herself and other people. She just does not trust people very easily, unless they are fellow clones, and even then, it takes a while for her to warm up to strangers.

Her trust and friendship are very hard to earn and her biggest flaw is probably that she will mentally blacklist people she has a bad feeling about, and will not invest any energy into getting to know these people either. If she gets spooked and decides that she doesn't like you, she doesn't like you, and no amount of convincing will ever change her mind on that. However, to those who do manage to get on her good side, she can be an extremely loyal friend who will stick with them until the bitter end.

8 - Relationships are hard for Star.

Don't spook her by going too fast, because she will drop you like a hot potato. Just ask Rhys Mortensen, the Mando Separatist who was her secret-but-not-really-all-that-secret boyfriend during the tail-end of the Clone Wars. He made the mistake of asking Star to desert from the GAR so she could marry him and come live with him. Star was not prepared for that because being a soldier was all she knew, so she panicked and broke up with him.

9 - Wherever Star goes, Bucket follows. He is the super protective older brother type who can go from absolute goofball to vengeful murder hobo within a split-second, should anyone dare hurt his sister.

While Star appreciates Bucket caring so much, she also often finds herself feeling a little embarrassed whenever he is being a tad overprotective of her in front of others.

10 - Star and Bucket were at the Jedi Temple when Order 66 went down.

And they executed it, too. They did not question what at that moment seemed a legitimate order, but they did end up hugely regretting what they had done after the war was over and they deserted from the Imperial Army as soon as they could. After the ordeal, Star would be forever reminded of the horrors of Order 66 by the lightsaber scar that had been inflicted on her shoulder that night:

As for tags, I'm not going to tag anyone because A) there are so many peeps on here with great OCs that it gets kind of impossible to choose, and B) I spent a long time on filling this thing out, and while I had a lot of fun doing it, I'm not going to ask anyone to do this unless they really want to. :')

Okay, so normally I try to avoid giving my political opinions online because it almost always leads to pointless and uncivilised bickering and I like to keep my page about my art and my fandoms, but:

After three days of war in Ukraine, of war in Europe, a continent I call home, I feel like I can no longer remain silent on the subject. This blatant aggression by Putin (not the "ordinary" Russian everyday people, but Putin, his inner circle of confidants and his asinine megalomania) needs to stop.

My heart goes out to all of those Ukrainians who have been uprooted and left their homes to flee from the violence, to the people who are afraid and hiding in the subway stations and shelters and to all those people still desperately fighting to defend their country from this atrocity.

I know that voicing my opinion won't make any difference whatsoever, but I just felt the need to say something, to do something, anything, to show my support to those whose lives have been wrecked by this pointless war.

I stand with Ukraine.

As most of you probably know, I’m currently away on a 3-week vacation. I brought my laptop and drawing tablet with me, but I most likely won’t be as productive as I normally am during the coming three weeks.

I’ll still reply to your messages and try to be active on here, but yeah, normal services will resume when I get back home.

To keep you all entertained during my absence, I’m turning this into a little Firestorm AMA thing, so please, ask me questions about my boys if you have any and I’ll try to answer one question each day while I’m away. If you don’t have any, I’ll just post a random fact about them each day.

Firestorm Squad AMA Random Fact #1:

- Unbeknownst to Firebrand, the squad’s training sergeant actually saved him from being branded as defective and being terminated by the Kaminoans at least three times.

Firestorm Squad AMA Random Fact #2:

- The boys of Firestorm Squad and the rest of their brothers in the 115th legion often get confused with members of the 212th attack battalion due to their armour colours being similar (the 115th’s orange is actually a little darker than the yellowish colour the 212th uses, but it’s a subtle difference and easy to miss)
